I have developed everything I need to begin franchising across the country, the one thing I lack is the funding. Is there any grants available to green companies desiring to expand? I feel that once we can get the work out that my franchise exists, we will bring healthy cleaning to mainstream America. We have many clients that care about the environment and live green, but we also have many others that use us because of our top quality cleaning system. Those who are not normally environmentally conscious are at least now not having their homes cleaned with toxic chemicals. If nothing else, this spreads awareness of the natural cleaning movement.

Hi Peter,
Problem with this model is the low hurdle for entry for competitors. Our maid service is green. Shaklee is supposedly green. Marketing is critical, and possibly some technology or knowledge base that separates you from the pack. How green can you get, electric cars? carbon mitigation?
I know a few grants available for green businesses in this area, but there are lots of green investment groups. You need low interest capital. Try Shore-Bank, as they are a national lender for green business. Social Venture Network is another. Coop America is another place to look for $. Friends and family are a better option that VC. We used CC for most of our capital.
As I see it, America has a Puritan view of dirt which is way out of control. Studies show that exposure to dirt is a good thing for young children to help build their immunity systems.
Now clutter, that’ll kill ya! That’s the reason we have a maid! It forces us to cleanup for the maid service. Another option are parties, which also force us to clean up, twice!
